Support Services
St. Mary School endeavors to meet the educational, physical and emotional needs of all students by providing access to special services. The Support Staff provides invaluable assitance to the faculty. The support staff can be contacted by calling the School Office (440) 322-2808.
School Nurse
The Nurse is available on school days from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. In addition to caring for sick or injured students, the school nurse assists in maintaining a healthy school environment. The nurse is responsible for updating student health records, administering medications, informing the staff of medical conditions and providing general health and safety tips to students and families.
School Psychologist
Mental health and wellness services are important to the healthy development of all children. The School Psychologist is available to help students learn to cope with stress, the problems of adolescence and life changes. Individual counseling is provided.
L. D. Teacher
The L.D. Teacher provides one on one tutoring and helps students overcome learning disabilities that are hindering academic performance.
Speech Therapist
The Speech Therapist meets regularly with students to provide therapy and help them overcome speech impedements.
Math and Remedial Reading Tutors
The tutors meet with students on a regular basis to supplement classroom work. Tutors may help students master basic skills by supplementing classroom work, or provide more advanced material to challenge students performing above grade level.
Cafeteria
Good nutrition boosts academic performance. The Cafeteria Staff, in conjunction with the Diocesan lunch program, provides hot lunches for students. The meals meet the nutritional requirements outlined by the State and are available September through May. Students may also purchase milk separately.
Extended Day
The Extended Day Program provides quality after school care for students a safe, familiar environment. Students enrolled in the program have the opportunity to participate in the following activities: games, art, crafts, outdoor play, make believe, and quiet study time. Student can also receive assistance with their homework. Hours of operation are school days, 2:20 P.M. to 5:30 P.M.
