Past St. Mary School was founded in 1859. The "school" was just one room at the rear of the church and had one lay teacher. The Sisters of St. Joseph taught at St. Mary until 1897. Over 300 Sisters of Notre Dame served the school. The Guardian Angel building was built in 1901. The School expanded in: 1949-Marian Building 1952-Pius x Building 1975-St. Mary Hall 2004-St. Joseph Building Elyria Catholic High held classes in the Marian building until the current school was complete.

Present There are 223 students attending St. Mary. The student to teacher ratio is 17 to 1. The average class size is 21. Smaller classes allow teachers more time for students.   At St. Mary, students come first. Our teachers are dedicated to Catholic Education. Children receive a well rounded education rooted in Christian principles. Extracurricular activites enhance our curriculum.

Future The success of the Building Campaign exemplifies the loyalty and commitment of our parish and parishioners. The beautiful new school building is complete and in use.   St. Mary strives to remain current with new technologies that enhance education. A new library and media center has been added.
